Exhibition: Kimberley Annan

Opening 6pm Saturday 26 October 2019

It’s hard to know whether KA actively instigates the situations she observes.

Can you control a group of anonymous strangers? Can you predict the way one falls through space? KA makes the influence of the camera felt.

This collection observes technological tools that define our cultural communities.

A smartphone documents the Mona Lisa; a 19th century plate camera captures a breakdancer.

Recent collaborative work with Antonio Bukhar Ssebuuma injects joyful movement into middle New Zealand and documents it.

KA lives and works in Auckland and appears as a guest of NEW Gallery. Her next project takes her to Uganda in November.
